The Kia Syros will be positioned between the existing Sonet and Seltos SUVs but wil offer a premium proposition The much-awaited Kia Syros has finally been revealed for our market. It is a sub-4m compact SUV with a premium experience and the latest technology and convenience. It aims to carve out a niche in this space with tons of segment-best amenities including space, comfort and safety. In fact, it also incorporates Kia’s latest global “Opposites United” design philosophy. Clearly, the Korean auto giant is aiming for a unique proposition to bring luxury to the masses. The bookings will commence in January 2025 with deliveries slated for February 2025. Let us delve deep into all the details of this new SUV. The Kia Syros is based on the reinforced K1 platform. As expected, the compact SUV borrows powertrains from the existing Sonet compact SUV. However, there are only 2 engine options on offer instead of 3 (like in the Sonet) – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill. The power and torque outputs stand at a cool 120 PS / 172 Nm and 116 PS / 250 Nm, respectively. The petrol mill pairs with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox, while the diesel mill uses either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Hence, the needs of all sorts of buyers will be taken into consideration.
